It's Xmas 2008, where are the sub-$100 mini laptops?Early September 2008, Nicolas Charbonnier posted this video on techvideoblog.com of the upcoming sub-$100 mini laptop, made by HiVision. The HiVision representative states that the new MIPs powered Linux model would be available in October (at about 2:20 in the video).Days later an even cheaper laptop, made by Menq International Ltd. appeared on the scene. The EasyPC E760 was priced at $89 and was ARM powered and running WinCE operating system. It's Chistmas now, what's holding up the ultra cheap Mini PCs? The cheapest laptops still cost at least $299 (not including the OLTP). Could it be some type of conspiracy between the electronics manufactures to avoid a "race to the bottom" in pricing? Sadly I'm too cheap to fork out the 300 bucks for a EEE PC.
